Top 3 Android Apps for Healthy Weight Loss

What apps do you usually download from the Android Market? Maybe games? Social apps? Book readers and music apps? I guess you do, since those are the most famous apps with the biggest download number on the Android Market. But did you know that Android Market has much to give those who’re trying to lead a healthy lifestyle, too? Recently I found some good health and weight loss related apps there, and I think they can be useful for you, too.

If you want to lose weight in a healthy way, these Android apps will help you a lot:

1. Calorie Counter by FatSecret

If you want to get rid of extra weight, counting calories is the healthiest way to do it, since different diets can really harm your metabolism, while eating less will only make it faster. Many people find it really annoying to check with different lists of the calories this or that meal contains. If you’re one of those people, the Calorie Counter by FatSecret app is just what you need.

This app will help you easily count calories and learn about Nutrition Facts of what you eat – you just have to write down (or find in the quick list) your current meal, and the app will tell you how many calories and what vitamins and minerals it contains. So it’s quick and easy. I used this app on my Samsung Galaxy Ace when I wanted to lose weight, and it really helped me a lot. Perhaps the only shortcoming is that it can’t work offline.

This app can be found on Android Market for free, so don’t waste your time any longer, go and get it!

2. AllSport GPS FREE

AllSport GPS FREE is the next good app for Android phones designed for those who want to lose weight in a healthy way. It will track all your workouts (runs, walk, rides and others) on a map and tell you how many calories you managed to burn during them. The best thing is – this app uses your phone’s GPS to track you and your progress, so no cell or data signals are needed.

You can also plan future workouts (including finding good places to train) and store them at allsportgps.com, and you can share all your progress with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.

Just as the title suggests, the app is free on Android Market.

3. Workout Coach

So if you’re counting the calories you consume with the help of Calorie Counter by FatSecret and if you’re spending some hours a week to run and track your workout via AllSport GPS FREE, there is only one more thing you’ll need to lose weight without harming your health – go to gym or do some exercises at home. For this you’ll need a coach, but there is a good app that can replace a real one – Workout Coach will help you find good exercises, explain what body areas they’re targeted at and monitor your workouts.

  1. Thanks so much for this post, the calorie counter will be really handy for when out and about especially, and I like the idea of having a ‘coach’ for my exercising, even if it’s not quite the same as a real life coach!

  8. Those are 3 great apps. There are 2 more great overall calorie counter fitness apps that I like to use. I really like the SparkPeople app. The second one that is pretty solid is the myfitnesspal.
